Angioplasty

A minimally invasive procedure to open narrowed or blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow.

Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat narrowed or blocked arteries and restore healthy blood flow. It is commonly performed in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).

The procedure involves inserting a thin catheter into the artery, usually through the groin. A small balloon at the tip is inflated at the site of the blockage, compressing plaque against the artery wall to widen the vessel. In some cases, a stent (a mesh tube) is placed to help keep the artery open.

Angioplasty is often performed under local anesthesia with sedation and typically requires only a short hospital stay. Lifestyle changes and medication are important for maintaining long-term results after the procedure.
